Unit Listing: Your Math SuperPower Starts in Primary One!

Hey there, young problem solvers! Have you ever wondered how some kids breeze through math problems while others find them tricky? Well, here’s a little secret: it’s all about developing the proper habits, and one of the most powerful tools in your math arsenal is unit listing.

What is Unit Listing?

Unit listing is like a magic wand that helps you visualize and organize information in math problems. They make solving problems much easier and more fun! But how do they work?

Picture It!

Imagine this: you have a math problem in front of you. It might involve adding, subtracting, or comparing quantities. Instead of jumping straight into the numbers, picture the situation with a simple listing.

Danielle had a dozen apples at first. She shared her kindness by giving 2 apples to Amelia. 1 apple to Jayvier, and 3 apples to Chloe. How many more apples did Danielle have than Jayvier in the end?

Danielle: 12 – 6
Amelia: 2
Jayvier: 1
Chloe: 3

These techniques might seem simple, but they’re like building blocks for your math skills. Unit listing helps you break a problem into smaller, manageable pieces. It is easier to understand what a problem asks you to do.

PSLE Preparation Starts Early

Remember, your journey to PSLE success begins right now. Building strong math habits from primary one will help you tackle more complex problems as you progress in your studies.

So, list those units or even draw little models that help you. The more you practice, the better you’ll get. And when PSLE comes along, you’ll be ready to take on any math problem with confidence!

Happy problem-solving, young mathematicians! Keep up the excellent work, and you’ll go far! As always, we welcome you to contact us at hello@supermath.com.sg to discover how SuperMath guides young learners with more advanced branching and listing in their early learning phase. Cheers!
